Club Review October 16, 2007

Indeed the club was full of young people with bizarre haircuts and eccentric outfits. Ames calls this crowd "indie culture." Is it another American invention like hippies? I don't care but I was sure that the hippies were all about having free and easy sexual adventures. And I wanted one for myself. So I took a careful look around the crowd to find my prey. I held two glasses of Baltika tap beer, and approached a very cute student-looking girl. I asked her if she could show me the club because I needed to write a story about it. She said that drinking Baltika was too mainstream and she drinks only avant-garde drinks like strawberry mojito or apple martini.

I said no problem, thinking I could buy her a whole container of mojitos. Just put it on my Citibank credit card, and rack up more Miles. But the bartender took only cash. So I spent my last 300 rubles on her drink and she started telling me that she despises consumerism and consumer culture, that she's into DIY art, hates fascists, and is involved in Live Journal communities about globalization. When I mentioned my black MacBook Nastya totally warmed up to me. She said she hoped to get one herself, and that although she's against consumerism, the MacBook is different, it's the one item that is actually anti-consumerism. I told her I could show her mine, and maybe she could show me some things I didn't know.

My parents were at the dacha with my grandmother, so I had my apartment to myself. And Nastya. After a pretty clumsy fuck, owing to the fact that she's an 18 year old student, Nastya took the rest of the night trying to explain me the basic values of indie culture. I was tired, which I always am after I cum, and didn't want to hear about this bullshit. In the end, whether a girl is "indie" or "elitny" it's just another fuck.

But my MacBook, that is something completely different.
